A woman ran off from her family after a row. There was subsequent concern for her welfare. A search around th area was organised but was eventually called off when it was established that she’d caught a train from Windermere
Team members assisted Coniston MRT with a search for a missing child
We received a request to assist NWAS and police to locate and evacuate a reported 17-year-old woman who had given birth and with baby in difficulty. Nothing was found after extensive searching. Inquiries continue
A young male jumped into the pool at Buckstone’s Jump and dislocated his shoulder. H was treated by the team and air ambulance paramedics and evacuated
Team members assisted on day 2 of a large scale search for a despondent female in the Keswick area. Thankfully she was located around mid-morning
We were requested to assist in getting a carer to their client in an isolated location when snow and ice created very difficult road conditions away from main roads
We were requested to assist NWAS with an elderly male who had slipped in Rothay Park, Ambleside
We were requested to assist NWAS with the recovery of a woman who had slipped and sustained a lower leg injury when she slipped on the shore footpath at Miller Ground
While investigating the previous incident a team member was flagged down for assistance with a man who was fitting and suffered a head injury on the roadside... the team member (also a paramedic) assisted the bystander (also a paramedic) with the man, who subsequently discharged himself from their care...
The team were called to a male who had jumped from rocks in to shallow water at Buckstone's Jump. He sustained fractures to both ankles. One of these was serious and limb-threatening, so after treatment by the team, he was evacuated to hospital via Coastguard helicopter.
Lightening strikes and a massive midge swarm saw the team exposed to noteworthy danger and considerable discomfort!
The team recovered the body of the dog that was lost, resulting in incident 26
Someone working in Troutbeck spotte what appeared to be a human shape stationary for a prolonged period on the hillside. Concerned that it was a person, we were requested to investigate.
We recovered a waterproof rucksack cover!
False alarm with good intent
A man fell from a tree. He was treated by NWAS paramedics and evacuated by the team
We were requested to assist NWAS with a report of an unconscious male in woodland in Bowness. He was located conscious and in the care of his girlfriend.
The team assisted with the multi-agency response to Strom Arwen by carrying out welfare checks on people who had been identified as vulnerable or at risk due to ongoing power cuts caused by the storm
A man got stuck on The Struggle in snow and ice. The team was on-route to recover him when he was rescued by a passing farmer
We were able to stand down
Five students attempting to reach Eskdale but got stuck on snow and ice on Wrynose Pass. Access was made extra difficult by fallen trees caused by Storm Arwen, but we eventually managed to get to them and recover them to Ambleside
A number of cars and occupants became stranded on Kirkstone Pass in snow and high winds. We recovered the people to Ambleside
We were requested to assist NWAS with a number of incidents where paramedics were struggling to reach patients due to extensive flooding in the area
Walkers reported hearing whistles from the hillside near Spout Crag. We investigated and learned that the farmer was calling his pheasants for lunch
A woman was reported in difficulty near Grasmere weir. The team responded to help but the woman was located by police
We assisted NWAS in recovering a male who had injured his neck when he fell down a drainage culvert
A dropped call to NWAS suggested that someone was in difficulty in the water at Blea Tarn. We attended along with Fire and Rescue, Police and NWAS. A search of the area revealed nothing, and we were able to stand down when a call was received confirming that the person we were looking for was on the way to hospital in a car
A female took a tumble when her wheelchair slipped off the edge of a path. She sustained multiple cuts and bruises. She was extracted and handed over to ambulance crew for ongoing transport
A male was found fitting on the Grasmere lake shore path. He was treated by paramedics and evacuated by team members
A young male jumped from a bridge in Ambleside and broke his ankle
We were joined by Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, Ambulance and Police to resolve this
We were requested to assist two care workers access a remote property when snow and ice made road conditions difficult
We were requested to assist NWAS with a cyclist who'd crashed on Red Bank, with concern for ambulance access on the 30% gradient.
We were on route when we were stood down, reason "incident not as reported"
An 11-year-old male cut his foot when he became entangled in a barbed wire fence. We were requested to assist but were not ultimately required so we returned home
